LA – Up to chapter 6 in our novel, The Whipping Boy. Novel students should strong summary sentences for each box of their story maps with coloured illustrations – due Monday.

Poetry – many students need to complete some of the poems we have been working on. A few students have the poems at home but we need to get them here to add to their powerPoint. You can email them to me or use a zip drive to get them to school.

Check the List of poems and see the attachment for instructions on how to write them.

L.A students: 2 haiku, 2 rhyming poems, 1 biopoem, 1 I Am poem, 1 Biopoem, 2 emotion poems

MATH -Working on division. Ask your child about the fact family. Can they come up with 2 multiplication and 2 division facts for the numbers; 3, 7 and 21?

SOCIALS – Chapter 5 vocabulary so far: government, elected, politicians, appeal, appealed, how the  3 levels of Canadian government (federal, provincial and local) are the same and how they are different, MP’,s ridings, Senate, senators, abolish, legislature, MLA’s and council.

SCIENCE – Chapter 4 vocabulary so far: cells, tissues, organs, systems, digestive system, nutrients and the steps/organs of digestion.

FRENCH – The students are working on a weather package and weather powerpoint. On Wednesday January 30th there will be a quiz on page one.

ART – Line design is now to be finished on own time. New project next week.

PE – Badminton tourney nearing completion.

January the 30th is Jersey Day at CE Barry.

February 21 is our CE Barry Carnival to raise money for kids in the Dominican Republic. Each teacher runs a game/station. Mine is the Cake Walk and I am looking for volunteers who would be able to bake a cake for this fundraiser. Thank you if you are able.

MATH -Working on two-digit multiplication. Our quiz was today and will be returned tomorrow. A few students could use more practice. Ask your child if they can solve 34 x 45.

LA – Our new novel is The Whipping Boy, by Sid Fleischman. We will be working on crafting strong summary sentences for each chapter.

MATH -Working on two-digit multiplication up to page 74 in the workbook.

SOCIALS – Chapter 5 vocabulary so far: government, elected, politicians, appeal and appealed.

SCIENCE – Chapter 4 vocabulary so far: cells, tissues, organs, systems, digestive system and nutrients.

FRENCH – The students turned in a worksheet today.
