LA – Some beautiful haiku being written! Check out the bulletin board outside the class with the pastel illustrations!

MATH – Rounding and estimating. Ask your child to estimate 11 x 57.

SCIENCE – Chapter 5 test was returned today.

FRENCH – Nothing due.

PE – Indoor games and leadership. Leadership is participating to the best to your ability, following rules, playing fair and including and encouraging others.

We skate on Monday!!! If students have their own skates and helmet they should bring them. I’m sure they fit better! Dress warmly with mitts, coats etc. Sometimes kids forget that the ice is frozen and it gets cold in there! Also, dress for the weather as we walk to the rink but we do catch the bus back.

Report cards come out this Thursday, November 29.

LA – Continuing on our novel, The Whipping Boy. Trying to write concise summary sentences and detailed illustrations. We also began writing haiku.

MATH – Rounding and estimating. Ask your child to round 3 482 to the nearest tens, hundreds and thousands. Ask them to estimate 895 – 457 by rounding to the nearest hundreds and by using Front End estimation.

SCIENCE – Chapter 5 test was today.

SOCIALS – Chapter 2 test was returned. Ask your child what they scored!

FRENCH – Nothing due.

Please remember to study for the chapter two socials test on Tuesday! Vocabulary to know: founding peoples (Canada has 3!) creation story, Aboriginal peoples, First Nations, Métis, Inuit, Bering Strait Ice Bridge, official language, bilingual, bilingualism, colony, colonist, habitant, first language, monarchy. monarch, governor-general and Great Britain. Students should be able to say a few things about each of the founding peoples, know what furs the Europeans wanted (and why) and what they traded for the furs.

The chapter 5 science test is on Thursday or Friday. Yikes!

LA – Continuing on our novel, The Whipping Boy. Trying to write concise summary sentences.

SCIENCE – Continuing chapter 5 in the text on the circulatory system. (Heart, blood vessels, blood, arteries, veins, capillaries)

SOCIALS – Continuing chapter 2 in the text. (All about the three founding peoples of Canada.)

FRENCH – We have a French quiz Wednesday next week on the Halloween package. Please study the vocabulary from the booklet. E.g balai = broom.

The PAC sent home a fundraiser form today for Neufeld Farms, if you are interested.
